No Bake Flax Bran & Fruit Bars

Flax, Bran and Fruit Bars: There are three things to like about these no bake fruit bars. First, they are chock full of goodness. Second, they freeze really well and third they are perfect for breakfast or a mid-morning snack. Always use organic ingredients when possible and never consume sugar if you have cancer.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 pound pitted dried prunes
  • 
1/4 pound dates
  • 1/4 pound figs
  • 1/4 pound raisins
  • 1/4 cup brown rice or maple syrup

  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons flax oil
  • 1 cup bran
  • 
1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind

Directions:

Process the fruit in a food processor. Combine the syrup, lemon juice, flax oil, bran, wheat germ and orange rind. Mix well. Combine the processed fruit with the other ingredients and mix well. Mold the mixture in a pan and refrigerate 1 hour. Cut into bars and serve. Makes 12 bars.

Hero Pose Ankle Strech Yoga Pose

Seated poses are valuable in the support of breast cancer treatment and recovery. Exercise is not only safe and possible during cancer treatment, but it can improve how well you function physically and your quality of life.

Benefits

  • Increases flexibility in tops of ankles ankles and feet
  • Stretches the hips, thighs, and knees
  • Improves circulation and relieves tired legs
  • Improves circulation of feet and relieves heel spurs
  • Improves digestion and relieves gas
  • Eases stiffness in hips and groin
  • Assist with proper spine alignment of shoulders and hips
  • Reduces swelling of the legs during pregnancy (through second trimester)
  • Excellent meditation seat

Contraindications

  • Knee or ankle injury

Instructions

  1. Begin on padded surface for feet and knees. with hips and knees parallel but wide on the yoga mat or padded surface.
  2. Place yoga block or bolster under hips if uncomfortable.
  3. Don’t let feet sickle (turn in) and have souls of feet facing up.
  4. Stretch calf muscles back to create space and open knee joint.
  5. Make sure your spines stays lifted.  If the hips or knees are not comfortable
  6. place another  prop under your seat.
  7. Now begin placing small pillows/folded blanket under knees to raise the knees up.
  8. As ankles begin to open; the pillows can be replaced with yoga blocks and move to the next level.
  9. Stay in pose 5/10 breaths.
  10. When finished INHALE come forward in CAT and Tuck the toes under.
  11. EXHALE,  stretch right leg back tucking toes underneath. INHALE, return right leg back.
  12. EXHALE, stretch left leg back tucking toes underneath. INHALE, return.

To experience the benefits of yoga for breast cancer, it is essential that you begin with simple, gentle yoga movements. You should also consult a doctor before you begin practicing yoga. It is also necessary that you follow a yogic diet that consists of a mainly vegetarian diet to enhance the benefits of yoga.
